Terrigal Men’s Shed were approached some months ago with a request to produce some signs for Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. This was a project that Tony Kirkman was delighted to take on board. Chris and Tony sourced the very large pieces of timber, collected them and work then commenced. Most of the Shed members were unaware of the time and dedication involved in producing these stunning signs. The work was carried out by Tony Kirkman in his time away from the shed using the facilities he has at home.
The signs are complete and were erected in time for this years Anzac ceremonies.
A big thank you to Tony for producing these beautiful signs, and appreciation from the Management Secretary of Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery was expressed in the following letter from them.
Hello Tony,
As promised, have attached 3 photos of the 3 routed signs you personally hand crafted so patiently for Holy Cross Cemetery a great job.
At this end, we are all very pleased with the end result – and would again wish “a very grateful ‘ thank you’ to both you and members of Terrigal Community Men’s Shed for initially accepting this project” from Cemetery Management.
As with any ongoing matter, we encountered some unexpected problems in having them erected and time kept running away from us – mainly to do with ‘other trades issues’.
The end result however, is that all 3 signs were all finally erected two days ago in time for Anzac Day, as the Parish commemorated that occasion this year with Mass and other Anzac ceremonies at Holy Cross Church, with the Flag flying at half mast out in the middle of the cemetery.
Would you also kindly pass on these thanks to all members of the ‘Men’s Shed’.
With kind regards,
Peter Hurley
Management Secretary
